Fourth day of the EUC Futsal 2019 prepares the first universities for the quarter finals

The fourth day of the European Universities Futsal Championship (EUC) 2019 was core in the final counts of the men´s and women´s group stages. The women´s competition started in the best way for the University of Evora, who won against the University of Evry Val d'Essonne. In a poor first half, both teams reached the half-time with a tie to zero on the score board. In the next twenty minutes, the portugueses got better and ensured the victory against the french team by 4-2.

 

Also in the second journey of group B, the Ural Federal University met the University of Zagreb. The russians opened the score, but the croats didn´t took too long to restore the equality. The match was marked by the balance during the 40 minutes. After the tie on yesterday´s game, the croats intended to conquer their first win in the competition and entered the second half scoring. A bad second half for the russian formation allowed the croats to distance themselves. The game ended with the result of 6-1 in favor of the University of Zagreb, rising to the top of the group with the victory.

 

In the Lamaçães Sport Hall happened the second game of the group C that put face to face the second and the fourth places of the group: the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University and the University of Porto, respectively. The ucranian team scored the two first goals of the match, but, before the half-time, the Porto side was able to reduce the disadvantage. At the end of the first twenty minutes, the score was 2-1. The University of Porto entered the second half confident and made the 2-2. But the ucranian team didn´t want to lose and made the victory goal a few moments later. The game ended 3-2.

 

The University of Minho debuted with a defeat at EUC Futsal 2019. The home team got motivated and wanted to win the gold medal, but the persistence of the University of Rouen managed to get the best. Although the Portuguese Guardian defended a major penalty, this was not enough for the French to go for the break to be won by 3-0. In the second half, the Portuguese formation bet on the 5x4 with the goal of reaching the draw. The French continued the engine on and ended up winning the meeting for 5-2.

 

In the last feminine game of the day, the University of Munster faced the University of Murcia, from group C. The spanish team made the lonely goal of the first half a few moments before the half-time. However, in the second twenty minutes of the game, the german side came to the field decided to win the game. The germans were able to invert the result and won by 3-1. 

 

The first match of the day at the UMinho Sports Complex put two teams from group D face to face: Karazin Kharkiv National University and College Management Academic Studies. The first half was calm and with few goals. At half-time, the ukrainians were winning by 1-0. In the return to the field, the team of Karazin University came with everything and won the game by 9-0. With this result, the ukrainian side progressed to the next phase in the first place of the group.

 

After the surprises of yesterday's games, the final ranking of group E was set. Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University entered the game against the University of Kiel as a favorite. Without even knowing the taste of victory, the Germans wanted to counter all expectations and win the first points in the race. The Georgians, who entered the game only with the victory in the mind, did not facilitate and ensured the victory for 7-0. Despite the second place in the group, the team from Georgia goes ahead in the competition, due to the score achieved.

 

A hot confrontation was expected between the University of Minho and Lviv Polytechnic National University, where the victory ended up smiling at the home team. After the rout, the current European vice-university champions wanted to secure a place in the phase to eliminate and tried to control the game from start to finish, not giving much space to the Ukrainians. In the interval, the result was already 2-0 in favor of the Portuguese. The University of Minho entered the second half on the right foot and extended the count. With the 4-2 victory at the Sports Complex, the Portuguese took the lead in Group A and passport to the quarterfinals. 

 

The Altice Forum Braga received the decision of Group D. In the fight for a place in the final quarters, the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria faced the University of Osijek, reaching second place in the group. Through several plays at the first touch, the Portuguese tried to shuffle the Croats soon in the initial minutes, only without practical results. Even before the break, the team from Croatia stepped up on the marker and went for the rest to win for 1-0. The second time promised great emotions within the four lines. The Polytechnic Institute of Leiria increased the intensity and reached the advantage in the last seven seconds, winning the Croats for 4-3. Due to the difference of goals, the portuguese formation was able to assure the passage to the next phase. 

 

Also in group E, the University of Malaga and the University of Coimbra entered the field to dispute the place that gives access to the final rooms. The current European University champions did not let the Portuguese breathe and opened the marker in the first three minutes of the meeting. The Luso group still tried to slow down the rhythm imposed by the opposing university, only that the Spanish experience was superior to the Portuguese will. The triumph smiled at the Spanish ensemble, which led to the best on the University of Coimbra (11-1). With this victory, the University of Malaga wins the first place in the group and advances to the knockout stage.

 

In the third game of the day at the “Altice Forum”, the University of Jaén defeated the University of Munster. In a decisive game for the spanish squad, their entrance on the field couldn´t have gone better when opening the marker early in the encounter. The spanish side didn´t rest and, before the half-time, made the 0-2. On the comeback from the locker room, the german team tried to reverse the score by making the 1-2, but the University of Jaén closed the result by making three more goals: 1-5. With this result, the class of Jaén has progressed to the next stage in the first place. Highlights to the University of Warsaw, who reached the quarter finals with the second place of the group.

 

In the late afternoon, the University of Camerino faced Saint Petersburg ITMO University in a game where both teams wanted to win the top spot in group B. The balance was constant throughout the match. However, the effectiveness of the Russian set was notorious even before the break. With the predominance of ball possession, the Russians shot the Italian goal, reaching the interval to win 3-0. In the last 20 minutes, the Russian lineup kept pace, giving no chance to the Italians. The Saint Petersburg ITMO University ended the match with an 9-3 triumph, ending with all hopes of the University of Camerino.
